“As we are”

Is an ongoing photographic series of family portraits. I see families as a blending place of behaviours and characters that are constantly changing. The concept of the work is to symbolise the birth place of identity. Where does it begin and how does it form? As individuals what do we select and transform from our early encounters?

During this project that stretched for 8 months, I asked people I know and close friends to participate by inviting me to their homes and capture them in their surroundings. I photographed all the members of a family where children are from the same parents and combine these portraits into a new hybrid character, that evolves and transit through each of the subjects.

Who they are is not as important as what they represent, a family of same flesh and blood. The method of superposed images used in the series, is not an attempt for the sake of beauty or style, but rather a precise arrangement to guide your attention into recognising the subject matter and its intensions.
